» Need study help for summer resubmissions and resits?

When you receive your results, if you have not passed all modules, you may want some advice and support to help with your assignment re-submissions or resit exams.

The “Learning Support team” ( EDIC and Study Advice Newport) can provide support with a tutor to help with your assignments or revision and exam technique.

  • Our study skills tutors can look at your assignment and give you support to improve your academic performance.
  • Our maths tutorials are offered either to individuals or to small groups working on the same topic.
  • All our sessions are provided in a friendly and relaxed environment.

We also suggest how you can work to practice and improve your skills after the tutorial. Plus, there is a range of self help guides and information on-line on our Self Help page within each of our subject areas: Study Skills, Maths & Stats, Welsh and IT.

We can give advice over the phone, or arrange for you to see one of our tutors. Our tutors are available throughout the summer to help you to improve your work, prepare well for these repeat exams and learn how to answer questions under exam conditions.

During the summer vacation period we are open, but with reduced working hours. Full details are available on our Opening Times and Locations page.

» Are you looking forward to your dissertation? Get ready now with the Education Drop-in Centres

For some people the dissertation can be the culmination of your degree work and this can be a daunting prospect. But planning, organising and researching NOW can make all the difference in achieving your goal and with less stress. The Education Drop-in Centres (EDIC) can help you to prepare for your dissertation and provide ongoing support.

The dissertation is your chance to focus on an area that interests you, so ensure you spend your time wisely. From the early stages of planning and discussing ideas, helping you to refine your proposal, leading you through the process of focusing your ideas and content, and assisting with the structure and layout of the dissertation itself. There will be the opportunity to receive ongoing support as you develop your work and bring it to its conclusion.

The suitability of the topic is something that you will need to discuss with your supervisor as well as any concerns you may have about the subject matter. However, our tutors are available to support you with one-to-one tutorials, and further guidance can be found through the handouts in our centres and our Self Help page where you will find Handouts, interactive Study Guides and Useful Links within each of our subject areas: Study Skills, Maths & Stats, Welsh and IT.
